Summary1) Training Courses for young people, womens and head of neighbourhoods about Local governance, environment management and Renewable energy including discussions of :
- How solar cookers work.
- Heat-retention cookers and paper briquettes as combined activities
- Construction of models of solar cookers and Heat-retention cookers
- Cooking practice using solar cookers and heat retention cookers and briqettes
- Analyses of activities
- How to spread solar cooking and all combined activities

2)Income generating activities promotion for sustainable development
- Bringing people togheter promoting self-sufficient life
- Recycling Urban garbage : Tires, paper box
- Generating income trough solar cooking activities
- Registering small business

Detailed Description

PHASE I
Based in the AMDU Resource Centres in the periurban and in the Rural areas, Training Courses, Group Discussions and Practical activities are developped in a continuing cycles from 1997 up today.

Environmental Education Program - “Friends of the Environment” – based on the community participation in waste collection and environmental sanitation activities, adopting RRR program
Reduce, Reutilize and Recycle .
It focus to train primary education teachers and pre-school educators, giving them some theoretic tools and practical skills to work with children and women in the schools and neighbour quarters to set up Waste Recycling Units.
“Friends of the Environment” is an Educational Program , but AMDU hopes that it will be an strategy of action resulting at middle and long-term, in behaviour changes of the society concerning produced solid waste.

PHASE II
Facing Flood effects in 2000-2002, people ressettled creating new Human settlements with all complex problems coming up. AMDU set up teams of qualified people and local voluntaries promoting training activities to prevent environmental problems and assisting people in ressettlement activities.

1) Disseminaton of information about RENEWABLE ENERGY and how to use it. Encouraging people to research activities.
1.1 Solar Energy use
a) Construction of several models of solar cookers
b) Practical experiences of cooking, registering cooking times and recipes
c) Comparative studies of diferent implementors
1.2 Heat-retention cookers use ("Wonder Box").
a) Construction of several models of "Wonder Box"
b) Practical experiences of cooking, registering cooking times and recipes
c) Comparative studies of diferent implementors
1.3 Production of Paper briquettes
a) recycling garbage
b) replacing firewood and charcoal use

3) Vocational Training and income generating activities
Furniture, Sewing and Embroidery Training
PHASE III
From 2003-2008, “Ctizenship and Participation” was considered to be a main issue to promote democratic governance and development and to solve people basic needs. Rural and Urban people must promote income generating activities and enter in Public- Private Partnership (PPP) offering basic services and managing it.

1) Identification of local basic needs and training activities for,women, young people, local leaders and local authorities

2) How to combine three alternatives enhancing better families savings to invest in small business - solar cookers use with heat-retention cookers use ("Wonder Box") and paper briquettes (recycling garbage and replacing firewood and charcoal use)

3) How to spread Renewable energy use through solar cooking, "Wonder Box" and paper briquettes for better and friendly environment

PHASE IV
From 2008 -2013- Rural and Urban people must increase basic services management in a Public- Private Partnership (PPP) bases for better governance and friendly environment management

1) Training activities for,women, young people, local leaders and local authorities for better governance to reduce unemployment effects and fighting Poverty .
1.2 Entrepreneurship Training : Small business management, Credits Access Facilitation
1.3 Generating income activities Promotion - Registering Local small business (individual or cooperatives) and management assistance.

2) Solar cooking in family life and as a sustainable business
Solar cooking activities in local communities – daily use of solar cookers and small busisness improved .

3)Solar energy and Alternative building materials for infrastructure development
Solar energy and bioclimatic architecture. Earth, Sand bags, papercrete and old tires used as alternative materials in housing and social infrastructures development..
